Argument over a woman led to Des Moines murders

July 17, 2000 By admin

Des Moines police say a discussion about a woman led to the death of two men during a fight at a bar early this morning. A third victim suffered three stab wounds, but his injuries were not believed to be life threatening. Police spokesman Sergeant Bruce Elrod says the whole incident was unusual, as the two men who died were having a disagreement over a woman when two other men jumped in and that led to a fight and the stabbings. Elrod says they don’t think the men knew each other before the fight. Elrod says they still don’t have positive identification of the victims. The stabbings happened around two this morning at a bar called the El Paso.Police have charged 22-year old Jose Pichardo with first degree murder and attempted murder. 25-year old Cruz Guerrero has also been charged with first-degree murder.
