No lack of interest in State Fair jobs

The Iowa and Missouri State Fairs open on the same day this year in a little over three weeks. While fair officials in the Show Me State say they still have 700 positions to fill, the Iowa State Fair’s employment roster is rapidly filling up.Kathie Swift, a spokeswoman for the Iowa State Fair, says there are still dozens of jobs available at the big event. Despite Des Moines’ and the state’s low unemployment rates, Swift says the fair isn’t having any real trouble filling positions this year.Swift says the state’s employment agency is getting into the act next week.Iowa Workforce Development will open its fairgrounds employment office on July 29th. The fair runs August 10 through 20.
