Luther conference addresses a variety of issues

July 19, 2000 By admin

A “Global University” conference gets underway tomorrow at Luther College in Decorah. There will be 80 workshops on a variety of social issues for the Lutherans in attendance, and speaker Elain Edge plans to talk about kids, sex and H-I-V.Edge says an “abstinence only” message to kids is a little bit dangerous.Edge says it’s hard for people to talk about anything sexual, but kids need the truth, such as how you get AIDS. Edge was the director of Iowa’s H-I-V/AIDS prevention program, but she’s retired now and living in Arkansas.
