Baseball tourney berths on the line

Some spots in the Boy’s State Baseball Tournament will be decidedtonight with sub-state finals in class 4A and 1A. In class 4A, fifth ranked Sioux City East visits Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson. East advanced after a 5-3 victory over 8th-ranked Sioux City West.East coach Steve Shanks says during tournament play, regular season records mean little.In class 1A, eighth-ranked Burlington Notre Dame looks for a return to state with a matchup against Iowa City Regina. On paper, Notre Dame looks to be the favorite though coach Tim Gall says they are taking nothing for granted.Gall says success in a tournament game begins with pitching.
