The State Racing and Gaming Commission today dropped a rule requiring cash machines to be placed in non-gambling areas of the state’s casinos. Commission member Rita Sealock says it became a farce trying to be fair and consistent in deciding where the machines could sit in the state’s 13 casinos. She says it was hard to make the rule uniform since every facility is different.Sealock says they’d originally hoped keeping the machines away from the gambling areas would keep people from overspending. An attempt by the Commission to ban credit card machines from the casinos altogether was overturned by a court ruling. Sealock says any attempt to regulate the machines should now be left to the legislature.
