RAGBRAI riders massing in Council Bluffs

Thousands of bike riders are in Council Bluffs today poised to begin the 28th annual RAGBRAI. The ride starts tomorrow in Council Bluffs and ends 450 miles later in Burlington. Keri Sliva is Vice President of the Council Bluffs Chamber of Commerce. She says the anticipate having 15-thousand riders.Sliva says many of the riders are spending the night with local residents.While the riders leave the western Iowa town tomorrow, Sliva says they’ll leave plenty of money behind.The anticipated economic impact is two million dollars in direct spending with a total impact of five million dollars. Riders will leave Council Bluffs and make a 57-mile ride to Harlan for the first leg of the ride.
