Police talk teen off of Sioux City bridge

Sioux City police were able to talk a teenager out of committing suicide today on a Sioux City bridge. Police Lieutenant Tim Blum says the 17-year-old had been experiencing personal problems and climbed up on the bridge this morning.The bridge over the Missouri River connects Sioux City with South Sioux City, Nebraska. Blum says a police negotiator was able to talk the teen off the bridge after about two hours.Blum says the Coast Guard had a boat waiting below the bridge, but it wasn’t needed as everything worked out.The teenager’s name is not being released. He was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
