UNI increases external funding

July 26, 2000 By admin

The University of Northern Iowa doubled the money it took in from the federal government and businesses in the last fiscal year. Ed Ebert, the Grants and Contracts Administrator at U-N-I, says the University took in just over 25-million dollars in the fiscal year which ended June 30th.In the past, U-N-I has averaged between 11 and 12-million dollars. The money is above the operating funds given the University from the state. Ebert says an increase in the number of federal grants is the reason for the increase in dollars flowing into the Cedar Falls Campus. Iowa State University took in just over 200-million dollars in “external income”, while the University of Iowa topped 250-million dollars.
