Disaster funds now available to Iowa college students

July 29, 2000 By admin

One million dollars is now available from Iowa colleges and universities for students whose families may’ve been hit by natural disasters such as flooding or draught. The Iowa College Student Aid commission is providing the money to the schools. The University of Northern Iowa will get about 64-thousand dollars of the money. U-N-I assistant financial aid director Brian Will says they’re seeking applications for the money. They’re asking students to submit a letter describing their situation. Will says the University will review the student’s financial aid package to see if they’ll get any of this grant money. Will says on average, students will receive two thousand dollars.Students at all schools in Iowa are encouraged to apply for the grants.
