Hundreds of northeastern Iowans who were knocked out of work in recent weeks will be able to get a hand from a new facility in Dubuque. It will offer everything from resume-writing tips to computer training classes.JoAnne Callison, spokeswoman for Iowa Workforce Development, says the Transition Center is focused on aiding the 12-hundred workers who were left jobless when Farmland Foods shut down its Dubuque operation in June.Callison says when a company makes the drastic move of closing down an entire factory, that’s when her agency leaps into action with this type of center.The Farmland Foods plant was a hog-slaughtering and packing operation.
