High school coach seeks to add to college championship

After earning a national championship this spring one coach at the state softball tournament is hoping to earn a state championship this week. Teisha Smith has her New Hampton team into Thursday night’s class 2-A semifinals against tenth ranked Independence. Smith graduated from St. Mary’s College in Minnesota this spring and pitched the school to the division-three N-C-A-A title before moving into the coaching ranks.Smith says the transition was difficult at first, but her players have helped her adjust and she’s learned a lot.
