August 2, 2000 By admin

The G-O-P’s “Salute to Veterans” is ringing true for one Iowa delegate to the Republican National Convention. Jim Luckritz of Dubuque is pleased George W. Bush has pledged to invest in modern equipment for the military as he has a son in the military.Luckritz is an alternate delegate, but he got to be on the convention floor for last night’s speeches, and he wore his own veteran’s regalia. The New Jersey State Police put a third officer on duty at the Iowa delegation’s hotel, but Iowa delegates have yet to encounter any of the protestors who’ve come to Philadelphia.A few Iowa delegates attended a farm issues breakfast this morning in downtown Philadelphia. Others, mostly the younger crowd, stayed out last night at a Mardi Gras party.
