Iowa City and Coralville Police investigate rash of burglaries

August 3, 2000 By admin

Police in the Iowa City and Coralville area are investigating a series of vehicle burglaries. Thieves are breaking into cars, trucks and some homes. Coralville homeowner Gina Landau says burglars broke into her car and stole money — along with her sense of security.Coralville police officer Terry Koehn says several hundred dollars in cash was stolen in that case but the thieves left behind C-Ds and other electronics. Koehn says the type of neighborhood involved may have made it easier for the bandits to strike. It’s a residential neighborhood with a lot of hiding places.Authorities in Coralville and Iowa City report several dozen burglaries in the past week.
