The class 3-A semifinal round game between sixth ranked Muscatine and second-ranked West Des Moines Dowling included a rain delay in the fifth inning and a power failure with one out in the bottom of the seventh. When it finally ended, Muscatine toppled Dowling 1-0. Krista Schuur was the winning pitcher for the Muskies and says it was worth the wait.Dowling had six-hits but failed on several occasions to get a two out hit to score. .Also in 3-A, third ranked North Scott scored a run in the second and got a one-hitter from Ann Wylie to down Cedar Rapids Jefferson 1-0. Wylie says she felt more confident than in an opening round victory over Sioux City North.Jefferson coach Larry Niemeyer says his team could not generate any offense.In class 2-A, Nicole Rathbun’s single through the hole at short scored the game winning run in the bottom of the ninth as tenth ranked Independence edged New Hampton 3-2.
