Any Iowans who are considering retirement or who’ve already reached that milestone may also consider a promotional bus tour hitting the state today. The A-A-R-P’s Voter Express started its tour in Philadelphia last week and will end up in Los Angeles next week.Bruce Koeppl is state director of the American Association of Retired People. The vehicle is cutting through 23 cities in 20 states. It’s stopping in three Iowa cities today. Koeppl says people are being asked to sign pledge cards calling on Congress to add an affordable prescription drug benefit to Medicare.Koeppl says many people, especially from the Baby Boomer generation, don’t realize how difficult some segments of retired life will be — until they reach the age.The Voter Express tour will be stopping at Autumn Heights in Burlington at 9 a-m, Witwer Senior Center in Cedar Rapids at noon and at the Carpenter Senior Center in Des Moines at 3 p-m. A-A-R-P has 356-thousand members in Iowa, 33-million in the U-S.
