President Clinton vetoed a bill over the weekend that would have eliminated the so-called marriage tax penalty. Democrats have criticized the plan as one that only helps rich couples. Republican Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says Congress will soon try, to override the veto. Grassley believes that attempt will fail and they’ll pass the legislation again.Supporters say the bill aims to help middle-income married couples, especially those in the 15-percent tax bracket.
