Businesses look for workers at the Iowa State Fair

August 11, 2000 By admin

Nine businesses are hoping to find new workers among Iowa State Fair-goers. The companies are setting up shop in the Iowa Workforce Development booth. Karen Conant of Iowa Workforce Development says it’s a good way for employers and employees to meet. Conant says shorts rather than starched-shirts are best for this kind of interview. She says it makes the interview process a little more relaxed. The U-S Postal Service, Hy-Vee, Dun and Bradstreet, Marriott Hotels, American Republican Insurance, Principal Financial Group, Manatts Incorporated, Allied Insurance and Manpower will participate in the “SmartWorks” Recruitment initiative. The job booth will be open from nine in the morning ’til nine at night. It’s located under the State Fair grandstand.
