The Iowa State Fair is usually a place to spend money, but federal officials are hoping to teach fairgoers how to save too. Amy Ward is part of the “Project Money Smart” team at the fair from the Chicago Federal Reserve Bank. The team members are offering all sorts of financial advice to Iowans.Ward says the Bank’s booth at the fair is located in Walnut Center and features a money management computer game based on the popular show “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?”Ward says research shows many people, especially younger people, just aren’t saving and don’t know how to start. She says the goal of the State Fair effort is to help Iowa consumers make the best possible choices when managing their money.
