A simple light bulb could mean the difference between life and death. Some Iowa Law enforcement agencies are supporting the use of emergency beacons for porch lights which blink. Cedar Rapids police Sergeant Cristy Hamblin says the light acts like a strobe light when activated to alert emergency personnel to the location of a call. Hamblin says the device could save time in an emergency. She says the flashing strobe light could be a new version of the old signal used to summon the “Caped Crusader”, a personal bat signal. For information, consult the website “www.emergencybeacon.com” or call your local police station.
