With his health back, Bobby Elliott looks forward to his return to the sidelines this fall. The former assistant coach at Iowa will serve as associate head coach at Iowa State and special teams coordinator. It is Elliott’s second stint at I-S-U after serving on Donnie Duncan’s staff back in the early 80’s. Elliott says things are completely different when it comes to facilities and the commitment from the administration.Elliott says while battling a rare blood disorder, he always envisioned a return to coaching. He says had he not been able to return to coaching, he wouldn’t have been able to beat the disease. Elliott says he’s glad McCarney took the chance on him.The Cyclones open September second against Ohio.
