The chief of staff for Iowa’s Governor got to tour the T-V sound stage where the N-B-C show “West Wing” is filmed. Vilsack aide John Norris took a look at the props and found them surprisingly realistic. This past week’s Democratic National Convention was held in Los Angeles, and chiefs of staff for the nation’s democrat Governors were invited on the tour and a luncheon beforehand.John Spencer, who portrays Leo, the chief of staff on the show, guided the tour and talked with the real-life political dealmakers. Norris occasionally watches the show and says it does a good job of portraying the private side of politicians.Norris says it’s clear the show’s producers are getting great advice from people who used to work in the White House. Norris has been in the real White House, too, and he says the set is remarkably true to life.
