College students get ready for new year with new roommates

August 19, 2000 By admin

Students across the state have been moving into their campus dorm rooms getting ready for the start of the fall semester. The University of Northern Iowa has seen enrollment continue to go up. Associate Director of Residence, Lyn Redington, says they do their best to see that everyone gets a room.Redington says the single rooms are usually reserved for upper classmen, because living with a roommate is part of the college experience.Inevitably, there will be roommates that don’t get along. Redington says talking can prevent problems. She says they try to help new students adjust to living with someone new.Redington says if they can’t work out problems, then they can move students to a different room.
