The 85-year-old descendant of a commander on the Lewis and Clark expedition will take part in a reenactment today near the western Iowa town of Onawa. Eugene Gass Painter of Pennsylvania will guide a keelboat up the Missouri River. It’s a replica of one of the boats used in the famed expedition nearly 200 years ago.
