McCain’s battle with cancer raises awareness

Arizona Senator John McCain’s recurrent battle with the most dangerous form of skin cancer has increased awareness about the disease. Mary Jane Fitch of the Siouxland Regional Cancer Center says about 32-thousand Americans will be diagnosed with melanoma this year. She says it’s the most aggressive form of skin cancer.Fitch says early detection is the key, as with all forms of cancer. Fitch says you should keep an eye on moles on the skin, as that’s a common place for melanoma to form.McCain underwent five-hours of surgery over the weekend to remove the melanoma spots.Nearly eight thousand Americans will die of melanoma this year.
