Fire believed to be caused by domestic dispute

August 24, 2000 By admin

Authorities are releasing more information about the cause of a fire that gutted a home just north of Council Bluffs. Carter Lake police say the Tuesday fire was set by a woman trying to escape abuse by her live-in boyfriend. The unidentified woman claims the man choked her. She hid in a bathroom and set fire to a bathrobe as a diversion so she could escape. The entire 250-thousand-dollar home was lost. 34-year-old Todd Anderson is charged in the assault. The woman may also face charges.
