Crawford County Treasurer to keep job for now

August 25, 2000 By admin

The County Treasurer in western Iowa accused of making expensive phone calls to dating services has ‘fessed up, will pay up and may keep his job. Crawford County Supervisors have ditched their attempt to fire County Treasurer Alan Hansohn for making hundreds of personal phone calls because Hansohn admitted he did it and will pay 18-hundred dollars restitution. Under an agreement reached yesterday, Hansohn is required to write a letter of apology to Crawford County residents. Hansohn may not be out of the woods yet, though. The state attorney general’s office is investigating, and the married, with children county treasurer could face criminal charges for using the public’s dime to make calls to dating services.
