Iowa ready to kick off season

The Iowa Hawkeyes take on eighth-ranked Kansas State tomorrow in the Eddie Robinson Classic in Kansas City. The Hawkeyes are a substantial underdog and coach Kirk Ferentz says the Wildcats are solid in all phases.A concern is special teams. Kansas State’s David Allen is the top return man in the country.Ferentz says he feels like his team is ready for a game and are going in trying to win the game.Kansas State coach Bill Snyder says senior Jonathan Beasley will open as the starting quarterback. He has been battling freshman Ell Roberson for the job during pre-season drills.Snyder says a lot of things go into playing a game this early and experience was the major factor for him.
