Farmers warned about bean pest

The Northern Iowa volleyball team enters the Iowa soybean farmers are being warned about an insect that could damage their crops. Scientists have discovered a soybean aphid that has been reported in parts of the Midwest. John Haanstad, an entomologist with the Iowa Department of Agriculture, has been conducting a survey in the northeastern part of Iowa looking for signs of the aphid.There have been sightings of the aphid in southern Wisconsin, northern Illinois, and southern Michigan. The results of the Iowa research are expected within the next few weeks.
