The Iowa Hawkeyes opened the season Saturday with a 27-7 loss to eighth ranked Kansas State in the Eddie Robinson Classic in Kansas City. The Wildcats put the game away with a touchdown and a field goal in the fourth quarter. Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says there were bright spots, such as the effort the team gave. The Hawkeyes return to action on September ninth by hosting Western Michigan.
