August 28, 2000 By admin

George W. Bush and Al Gore were here last week. Pat Buchanan may not be far behind. Drew Ivers, state chairman of Buchanan’s Reform Party presidential campaign, says Buchanan plans to make a direct play for votes in Iowa.Ivers says Buchanan will run a traditional campaign in Iowa, including radio and television campaign ads.Buchanan finished second in Iowa’s 1996 Republican Caucuses. This campaign year, Buchanan’s left the Republican Party and seized the Reform Party’s nomination. Ivers says in addition to the so-called “Buchanan Brigades” who follow the candidate, the Buchanan campaign is going after voters who are not acquainted with the former G-O-P operative.Ivers says voters who restrict their choices to Bush and Gore have a choice between quote — “the lesser of two evils.” Buchanan served on the White House staff for Presidents Nixon and Reagan.
