A standoff in a Des Moines apartment building ended without injury Wednesday. It all began at about 2:30 Wednesday afternoon when police started chasing a stolen car in Ankeny. A state trooper rammed the car, and the driver fled the disabled vehicle to a nearby apartment complex. The man’s father was on the scene, trying to talk his son into surrendering. Shots were fired during the standoff, but no one was injured. The apartment complex was surrounded by police, and a nearby elementary school was locked down to ensure the students’ safety. Parents were told to go to the school to pick up their kids.
