Less traveled roads popular for some motorists

September 4, 2000 By admin

While most travelers this Labor Day will take to the Interstate highways, some will be looking for roads less traveled. Dallas County Sheriff Art Johnson says he expects to see plenty of traffic on the secondary roadways.Johnson says these roads can pose more dangers because they aren’t as wide as the Interstates. He cautions drivers to remain alert. He says many counties will have extra officers on patrol. Johnson plans to be out on the road too. He normally drives an unmarked car, but will drive a marked car this weekend.Johnson says sometimes just the site of a patrol car is enough to get people to slow down and pay better attention to their driving.
