Student government leaders at Iowa State University hope to keep their famous spring fling, VEISHEA, dry. Interim I-S-U president Richard Seagrave is considering allowing key changes in the annual festival. I-S-U student body president Ben Golding hopes VEISHEA remains alcohol-free.Golding says elected leaders of the I-S-U student body believe VEISHEA should remain alcohol-free. He says the focus needs to be taken off of alcohol and left on the excellence of the University.Golding, who is a senior from Cedar Rapids, says he’s been “legal” the past two VEISHEAs. He says he’s always supported the dry VEISHEA pledge.Golding says if students who are 21 WANT to drink during VEISHEA, they can go to a bar. He says he chooses not to and hopes most other students will as well so VEISHEA’s image won’t be marred in the future.
