Creston city clerk sues city and mayor

September 6, 2000 By admin

A dispute in the southwest Iowa city of Creston involving two city officials has spilled over into court. Public Works director Tom Myers is suing Mayor Larry Wynn and the City of Creston. Myers contends Wynn threatened to terminate him if he didn’t conceal the fact that a city resident’s fines and penalties for utility usage had been reduced. Myers says on another occasion, the Mayor threatened to fire him if he didn’t personally remove asbestos from a city-owned building. Myers’ lawsuit says repeated verbal abuse and threats of firing caused him emotional distress. Myers’ wife and three kids have also filed a lawsuit. Both suits seek unspecified monetary damages.
