Iowa Guard sending more help to Montana

The Iowa National Guard is sending eight soldiers to Montana today to replace guard members who’ve been helping fight forest fires. Colonel Robert King is the spokesman for the Iowa Guard.King says the Iowa Guard members are driving four fuel trucks that supply fire-fighting helicopters from three communities.The soldiers being replaced have been on the job for two weeks.King says the Iowa Guard members are on active duty in a loan agreement with Montana, and Montana is paying the men’s salaries.Iowa and Montana are among 28 states that have signed an agreement to help each other in such emergencies.
