Fridley Theaters is closing ten theaters, including the screens in Algona and Red Oak. Fridley executives say the poor movies coming out of Hollywood are the cause for the temporary closures. The chain will re-evaluate the industry later this fall and make a final decision about the theaters. Algona Chamber of Commerce executive director Vicky Malley says closing the town’s theater will affect downtown business.Other movie houses have taken similar action this summer. Fridley has movie theaters in 37 cities.
