A series of educational events this month aims to reconnect Iowans with 13-thousand years of human history. As part of Iowa Archaeology Month, more than 60 events are planned in 25 communities statewide.Lynn Alex is the public archaeology coordinator for the Office of the State Archaeologist in Iowa City. She says there will be presentations, tours and lab visits in schools, museums and community centers all over Iowa. The program “Time Capsules from the Past” will involve the use of rare exhibits.Alex says the items will represent Iowa at various points in time between one thousand and 12-thousand years ago.Events are planned for: Ames, Anamosa, Bonaparte, Boone, Burlington, Cedar Falls, Cedar Rapids, Centerville, Cherokee, Davenport, Decorah, Des Moines, Dubuque, Independence, Iowa City, Marion, Marquette, Marshalltown, Missouri Valley, New London, Oskaloosa, Red Oak, Sioux City, Toolesboro and Washington.
