UNI opens the season with win against Morningside

Northern Iowa took command in the second half enroute to a 47-14 victory over Morningside Thursday night in the UNI-Dome. The Panthers overcame a mistake-filled first half in which they led 27-14 at the break.Northern Iowa coach Mike Dunbar says the Panthers need to work on limiting their mistakes. He says they do a better job of protecting the football.Dunbar says he was happy with the balance the Panthers showed on offense.Morningside coach Dave Elliott says he was proud of the effort. He says the kicking game blew up.
