Former Nebraska football coach turns to politics, speaks in Iowa

Former Nebraska football coach Tom Osborne was in Sioux City last night to speak at a political fundraiser for Iowa republican House Majority Leader Christopher Rants. Osborne, who has switched professions and is now a politician, says he’s concerned about the direction the country is headed when it comes to issues of character, values and morality.Osborne says his experience as a coach tells him that the opposite is true.Osborne says he has no qualms about coming to Iowa, a state that was hostile territory when he coached the Huskers.Osborne is the Republican candidate for Nebraska’s third congressional district.
