Former ISU football coach now in school’s Hall of Fame

Former Cyclone football coach Earl Bruce was one of ten people inducted into the Iowa State Hall of Fame this past weekend. Bruce says it’s one of his top accomplishments.Bruce was the last coach to lead ISU to a bowl game — doing so in 1977 and ’78. He says he likes returning to Iowa and calls Iowa people “the salt of the earth”.He says his favorite moment as ISU coach was getting back-to-back wins over Nebraska.Bruce and the other inductees were honored at halftime of Saturday’s football game. Others inducted into the ISU Hall of Fame were: baseball player Dick Bertell, baseball/football player Mike Busch, women’s basketball player Tonya Burns, wrestler Nate Carr, football player Mike Stensrud, football player Polly Wallace, football player Dexter Green, hurdler Danny Harris and former cross country coach Chris Murray.
