Hawkeyes suffer disappointing loss

September 11, 2000 By admin

Iowa suffered a disappointing, 27-21 loss to Western Michigan Saturday. Hawkeye coach Kirk Ferentz isn’t ready to throw in the towel, he says the season is far from over despite the 0-2 start. Ferentz says it hurts to lose, but the coach says “good things” are going to happen for his team, soon. Iowa faces intrastate rival Iowa State this coming Saturday. He says it’s going to take everything they have to beat the Cyclones.Iowa launched a comeback bid in the second half, which fell short on a 4th down play in which quarterback Scott Mullen was sacked by a blitzing Bronco.
