The Libertarian party’s presidential candidate campaigned in Iowa this past week. Sixty-seven-year-old Harry Browne is an investment advisor turned politician.Browne, who lives in Tennessee, was the Libertarian party’s candidate in 1996 and received almost half-a-million votes.Browne says the federal government’s functions should be dramatically reduced. For example, he wants to end foreign aid, Medicare and Medicaid as well as farm subsidies. He says the income tax should be repealed and the federal government should go back the way it operated before the 20th century. Browne campaigned in Iowa City on Tuesday evening.
