In hopes of reversing some negative publicity about ethnic troubles, the central Iowa town of Perry is holding its first-ever Hispanic Appreciation Day. The events get underway this morning with a prayer service at 10 a-m, followed at 11 a-m with a parade down Main Street.Event chair Judy Arellano says parade participants will include members of the El Salvador Army, folk dancers, local sports participants and community leaders. Arellano says the street will be blocked off for an afternoon of dancing.She says there will be a variety of kids activities and more than a dozen food booths selling traditional and local favorites.
