Iowa Congressman Leonard Boswell, a democrat, today blasted the President’s lack of national energy policy. Boswell says it doesn’t seem to him that “we have anything we can clearly identify.” Boswell calls the lack of policy unacceptable and has sent letters to the administration asking for fast action to deal with high gas and fuel prices. He wants them to immediately convene a national energy summit to come up with a plan.Boswell says the President isn’t entirely to blame for the current high fuel prices. He says the Republican-controlled Congress hasn’t helped the President develop a national energy policy.Boswell says Republicans haven’t funded the programs the administration has asked for. Boswell says there’s enough blame to go around and it’s time to move ahead and do something.Boswell says the U-S government could help ease prices in the short term by tapping into the strategic petroleum reserve. He says oil-producing countries plan to increase their output, but it takes time to see the results of that effort.Boswell says an increased use of ethanol is another way to supplement the oil supply.
