The Iowa College Student Aid Commission is warning parents about being taken by seminars on student aid. Commission spokesperson Brenda Easter says there are a lot of companies offering to help students find aid for a fee.Much of the information offered by the companies can be found for free. She says the companies sometimes lure people in with claims of free help, only to reveal the charges later.She says the fees range from 35 to 500 dollars. Easter says her organization and others have lots of free help available.Easter says the Iowa College Student Aid Commission can give advice to help you weed out the companies that’re trying to take your money.Easter says you can get free financial aid information by calling the Iowa College Student Aid Commission at 800-383-4222.
