Two banks robbed in eastern Iowa, no connection found

Police in two eastern Iowa communities say yesterday afternoon’s bank robberies are not believed related. The holdups were in the Dubuque County town of Key West and in Iowa City within a half-hour of each other. Peggy Dempster owns The Mill, a restaurant next-door to the Iowa City bank which was robbed and she’s unphased. She says she doesn’t feel any less safe.Dubuque County Sheriff’s Department Captain Don Vrotsos says much of the robbery was captured on videotape. He says they’re checking for fingerprints and other evidence they can use to identify the man.The Iowa City holdup was at a Hawkeye State Bank branch while the Key West robbery was of an American Trust Bank branch. No arrests have been made. Both suspects were men.
