Congressional candidates have a rare joint appearance

Two candidates running for the fifth district congressional district made an unusual joint appearance this past week. Libertarian candidate Ben Olsen joined Democrat Mike Palecek at the state prison in Fort Dodge. Palecek says they both believe an end to the war on drugs would solve the prison-overcrowding problem.Incumbent Republican Tom Latham was successful in getting methamphetamine training located in Sioux City. Palecek says the drug issue is being used as a political toolOlsen says he’s just trying to draw attention to an issue he thinks is important.
