Legislator vows to bring ethanol only issue back

October 3, 2000 By admin

The Iowa Senate’s Republican leader promises another attempt to force Iowa gas stations to pump ethanol-blended fuel. The ethanol mandate stalled in the Iowa Senate last year after republican Senator Jeff Angelo of Creston successfully argued gas stations should not be forced to sell ethanol. Senate Republican Leader Stewart Iverson says he’ll make another run at the issue in January.Iverson says use of ethanol should rise if every Iowa gas station makes it available. He says we’re seeing some benefits from better pricing of ethanol, as usage has increased.Iverson, a republican from Dows, is considering a race for Governor in 2002.
