Creston Man Pleads in Murder Case

A southwest Iowa man accused of stabbing his girlfriend to death as she triedto move belongings out of their home has plead guilty of second degreemurder. Thirty-six-year-old Charles Barry Chubick (chub’-ik) of Crestonstabbed 45-year-old Jane Ruby in February. Union County Attorney Tim Kenyonhad planned to prosecute Chubick on a first degree murder charge.Kenyon says Chubick also agreed to pleaded guilty to “willful injury” forstabbing his former girlfriend’s daughter in the thigh. He’ll be sentencedNovember 9th to at least 42-and-a-half years in prison.
