President Clinton is expected to sign landmark legislation today grantingpermanent normal trade relations to China. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley saysChina has been able to export its products to the U-S for 15 years with fewrestrictions, and this law will “level the playing field” so U-S businessesand farmers can export all sorts of products to China. Grassley says the newtrade status creates a “win-win” scenario for American businesses andfarmers in particular. He says it’ll create jobs in the U-S. U-S-D-A figuressay the U-S could sell three-BILLION dollars in meat and produce to China. Grassley plans to attend the White House bill-signing ceremony this afternoon.
